Wine and Cheese Evening
At our annual Wine and Cheese Evening on Friday 29 February 2008, the speaker was Dr Melani Schröter of the University of Reading. She compared attitudes to two women political leaders, Margaret Thatcher and Angela Merkel.
Annual Dinner
Our Annual Dinner was held at the Maltsters, Rotherfield Greys. Our guests of honour were the Mayor and Mayoress of Reading, Councillor Chris Maskell and Mrs Dorothy Maskell.
Funeral of Oberbürgermeister Joachim Erwin
We were sorry to hear of the death in May of the Oberbürgermeister of Düsseldorf, Herr Joachim Erwin. The Chairman of the Association, Robert Dimmick, attended the funeral on behalf of the Mayor of Reading and the Association.

Barbecue
The annual Barbecue was held in July, and was well attended by members and friends.
Annual Meeting
At our Annual Meeting in November, we heard reports about visits to or from Düsseldorf by Reading Blue Coat School, work experience students from the Lore-Lorentz-Schule, Caversham Amateur Football Club and the Reading-Düsseldorf Churches Interchange.
