Forthcoming Events
The funeral of our Honorary Vice-President and former Chairman took place on Friday 12 February. There was a private committal at Reading Crematorium and a funeral service at Caversham Heights Methodist Church.
There will also be a Service of Celebration of Martyn's life on Saturday 13 March at 2.30 pm at Reading Minster of St Mary the Virgin. The service will be led by the Revd Canon Brian Shenton, and the sermon will be given by the Revd Leslie Griffiths (Lord Griffiths of Burry Port), a former Minister at Caversham Heights, now Superintendent Minister at Wesley's Chapel, London. There will also be other tributes.
The family has asked that no flowers be sent. Donations in memory of Martyn can be sent to A.B. Walker & Son, Eldon Road, Reading RG1 4DL, either for the Methodist Relief and Development Fund or the Disasters Emergency Committee Haiti Earthquake Appeal.

Our Annual Dinner is at The Maltsters, Rotherfield Greys, Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire RG9 4QD at 7.30 pm for 8 pm on Friday 26 March. Our guests of honour will be the Mayor of Reading, Councillor Fred Pugh, and the Mayoress.

Concert - full details here. The concert will be given by the Reading Symphony Orchestra with members of the Orchester der Landesregierung Düsseldorf at The Concert Hall, Reading Town Hall at 7.30 pm on Saturday 19 June. The programme includes Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto and Mahler's 5th Symphony. Tickets for all concerts can be obtained from the RSO Box Office: 0118 986 0707 or tickets@rso.org.uk, or at the door (subject to availability).
