Many Reading and Düsseldorf groups have linked to each other over the last sixty years.  This page lists a few of those we know about - particularly where we have found websites.  If you would like your group to be listed, or to update the information here, please contact the Chairman.

Schools

The Lore-Lorentz-Schule in Düsseldorf sends groups of its pupils to Reading each year for international work experience.  They have worked with a wide range of employers in the Reading area.  This exchange is supported by the Leonardo da Vinci programme of the European Union.

The Luisen-Gymnasium has held exchanges with Bradfield College (boys) and Queen Anne's School (girls).

Universities

Reading University and the Heinrich-Heine-Universität, Düsseldorf have strong links, and have programs to exchange students.

Music

The Reading Symphony Orchestra has played joint concerts with the Orchester der Landesregierung Düsseldorf.

The Reading Phoenix Choir, Reading Male Voice Choir and Thames Valley Chorus - Reading Barbershop Harmony Club are frequent visitors to Düsseldorf.  They helped to inspire the formation of Düssharmonie.

Dance

The Aldbrickham Clog and Step Dancers have danced with the Volkstanzgruppe Düsseldorfer Grashüpper on their visits to Reading.

Sports

The Caversham Association Football Club plays regular matches for boys up to about 14 against Düsseldorfer Sportverein 04 Lirienfeld (DSV04).

Click here for much more about the exchanges in 2007.

There have been Unicycle Hockey games between Reading and Düsseldorf players.

Churches

The Reading-Düsseldorf Churches' Interchange has been in existence since about 1977.  It includes people from several Christian denominations.  Visits take place on a three-year cycle; about 40 people from Düsseldorf visited Reading in 2008, a group visited Düsseldorf in July 2009, and there will be a break in 2010., which is a fundraising year ready for us to host the Dusseldorfers for a week in 2011.  We welcome all age groups, whether as families, couples or singles.
