Heritage Open Days 2018
Saturday 8 September 2018
For Heritage Open Days 2018, we have teamed up with the Berkshire Record Office (BRO) for a free event.
From 10 to 11am there will be a tour of areas of BRO that are not normally open to the public, including the conservation room and the strongroom, and – as part of the HOD theme of Extraordinary Women and the European Year of Cultural Heritage – special displays of selected items from the Phoebe Cusden and RDA archives. The tour is limited to 12 people and must be booked in advance (see below).
Beyond the tour, and alongside a public display of material from the Phoebe Cusden and RDA archives, there is also an exciting opportunity to for you to contribute your own items to an interactive, impromptu exhibition of personal or official documents.
If you have any documents – including diaries, letters, photographs, flyers, tickets, artwork, certificates etc. – that can tell a story about your connection with, or visits to, Düsseldorf, or about the RDA between its inception and today, please bring them along between 10am and 1pm on 8 September. (All items can be taken home again at the end of the event, unless you wish to donate them to the archives.)
If you have any questions about bringing an item, email firstname.lastname@example.org or simply turn up on the day.
We will also have a small stand selling our Reading postcards.
To book a place on the tour, contact the BRO via email at email@example.com or call 0118 937 5132. The BRO is at 9 Coley Avenue, Reading RG1 6AF, and a location map can be found here: www.berkshirerecordoffice.org.uk/location.
